The Architecture Party !

Welcome to Open House, the most special weekend for Architects and Architecture Lovers!

Every year, the doors of invaluable architectural spaces open for free visits during 2 days. The concept was created in 1992 by Vitoria Thorton and nowadays takes place in almost 60 cities around the world such as London, Osaka, Buenos Aires and Maputo.

Lisbon joined this network in 2012 and celebrates Architecture with free visits, tours and workshops through the city. Every year, Trienal de Arquitectura de Lisboa organizes this event, and forms teams of volunteers - mostly architecture students - who proudly lead the operations. They guarantee the opening and presence in the palaces, museums, churches and apartments that are part of the program.

This year, “Open House Lisboa” will take place on the 11th and 12th of May simultaneously with the cities of Málaga (Spain) and Rosario (Argentina). In Lisbon, there are 74 open spaces, 100 experts and more than 250 people who make this great Architecture Party possible.

Details about construction, restoration, decoration and History are topics covered in a guided tour, but the most important thing is to experience the space freely: opening the doors with your own hands, looking at the view, going up and down the stairs, touching the historic walls of the palaces, and of course... photographing everything.
