Grandma-Inspired Lamps

@leamestres

All the lamps created by young French artist Léa Mestres have a woman's name and their own personality. She is inspired by the names of her friends' grandmothers.

The sculptures are handmade with painted plaster, many of them have been scaled to the height of an adult. In exhibitions, it looks like a meeting of grandmothers chatting happily to each other.

Léa builds a very unique world of her own. Her work is marked by color and texture and she is inspired by the absurd - Salvador Dalí is one of her masters.

Léa's imagination is unlimited and driven by humor and freedom. The artist prefers to create fun and colorful objects that represent her own personality, countering a design world that in her opinion often feels too serious and too masculine.

Her work is permanently exhibited in Paris at the Galerie Scene Ouverte.
